Harriet Miers declines nomination
thank god. but this is a frightening statement that i found on BBC News' website:
"In a letter confirming her decision to withdraw from the nomination process, Ms Miers wrote that continuing to seek Senate approval would prove to be a burden on the White House. It would not be in the best interests of the US to reveal details of her work within the White House, she added."
wtf does that mean? she's a lawyer (dubya's lawyer, to be exact), not head of homeland security or some bullshit top secret job like that.
whatever. i'm just glad she's not going to be on the bench. but it is a little unsettling that she'll be going right back to her top-secret task of making sure that bush's ass is covered.
