I coulda told 'em that...

 

Mainly went out to check on my cache that I hid a few weeks back (GPS coord. N 39° 38.490 W 121° 21.040 ). It's still in good condition, with a few added goodies that someone else left. Started to snow a little on my way out, not quite cold enough for it to stick though. Soon though I should be frolicking in the snow on top of my favorite mountain! 

 

You can see the water draining out of the mountain... I can't wait 'till it starts snowing up here heavily!!! 

 

I would beat the living snot out of this person, if only I knew who they were. I can't believe somebody would spray paint on the side of such a wonderful natural treasure. Jackasses!!!

Went hiking today, perfect day to go hiking (for me anyway). Heres a pic of 'Crazy Ivan' at the trailhead for Phantom Falls (which I thought I made it to, but didn't hike far enough)GPS Coord: 39° 36.212n 121° 33.709w 

 

The start of my hike, some would say it was a poor time to go hiking. I'd say screw them, I wanna go hiking!

What I thought were Phantom Falls, but are some much smaller falls on the way, I love the way the fog frames the water.

Kinda sucks that I didn't actually get to my real destination, but the hike was fun anyway!

So, I don't think I'll be celebrating Christmas anymore... But I should have a holiday to celebrate since Dec 25 is the only day I get off of work during this godawful (sp?) month...

Maybe I could celebrate Kwanzaa . It's principles I agree with, so why not?

Just got back from a random trip to Oregon I decided to take on a whim. Had fun visiting w/ my Dad, trying to convince him to move down to California. Anyways the picture above was taken near the house I grew up in, beautiful area!

Jacob: No, but it's orange like a pumpkin.
Lily: Orange?
Jacob: Yes, pumpkins are orange.
Lily: Oh.
Jacob: What color are pumpkins, Lily?
Lily: Blue!

So today I took a rather long hike at Bald Rock Canyon. There was a lot of cool stuff to see. Crazy land formations all over the place! Take a look at the pics below and see.
Here is a pic of my beloved car "Crazy Ivan" chillin' at the trailhead (39°38.60N 121°18.40W) shortly after my arrival. 

 

A small waterfall not too far off the trail, it was quite peaceful at this spot. 

 

Bald Rock Canyon, my destination is the bottom. 

 

Almost to the bottom of the trail, you had t walk through this crack, it was a tight squeeze w/ my backpack. I should have taken a picture w/ me in the crack to show scale, but lemme tell you, it's BIG!

Found my second and third geocaches today. Beautiful day out on Bald Rock, extremely windy though!

Well it's really a fungus called Bloody Tooth (Hydnellum peckii, thanks to Clive Shirley for the identification ). Found it on a recent bushwack hike with Steph. 

The kid at the grocery store recommended it. We'll see how good it is soon.

Well, it still needs a few more tweaks (such as aligning the subtitle at the top of the page), but I think this layout looks a wee better, I dunno, whaddya think?

Jon and I took our longest hike through Bald Rock today (well technically yesterday as it is 1:08am now). This time we didn't just explore on the granite but went down into the forest below Bald Rock (which might I add is THICK). We searched for a geocache, but concluded it had been destroyed. I had a blast on this hike, and am now planning to take a 2 day hike out at Lassen Peak north of Oroville.
